Pinkly Smooth is an American avant-garde metal band. The band was formed in the summer of 2001 in Huntington Beach, California, with The Rev (under the name Rathead) as singer, fellow Avenged Sevenfold guitarist Synyster Gates as guitarist and ex-Ballistico members: Buck Silverspur (under the name El Diablo) on bass and D-Rock (under the name Super Loop) on drums.

Since then, the band has released only one album, Unfortunate Snort on Bucktan Records, which features a crossover sound of mostly punk, ska and avant-garde. Former Avenged Sevenfold bassist Justin Meacham was also featured on keyboards and piano on the album, but left the band soon after.
On December 28th, 2009, The Rev was found dead in his Huntington Beach, CA, home of what has been suggested to be natural causes. [1] Only weeks after the passing of The Rev, Avenged Sevenfold entered the studio with Mike Portnoy of Dream Theater, to complete the drum tracks for their upcoming album release. Portnoy was Sullivan's hero and found it an honor to finish The Rev's unfinished work.

They released a 6 song album called Unfortunate Snort, which I've only been able to find on YouTube. It's the goofiest music I've ever heard, but it's very unique and sounds amazing if you can get past the low production quality and overall silliness of it. The quality is pretty low, similar to a demo, but you could argue that it adds to Pinkly Smooth's charm. Guitarist Synyster Gates recently mentioned that the album will probably be remixed and remastered by adding some new parts, so I definitely look forward to that.
